Emergency Preparedness


This class is designed to help childcare providers prepare for different types of disasters. It includes training staff on topics related to disaster preparation. The course includes scenarios for centers and home daycares to use to prepare for disasters as well as the importance of having disaster and evacuation plans. Interactive class using Power Point Presentation and discussion with handouts. Upon Completion participants will be able to:

  • Explain why childcare centers should have a disaster plan
  • List the types of disasters most likely to occur in our area
  • Develop an emergency plan for their daycare center
  • Make and practice an evacuation plan for their program

Course length: 2 hours

Class Size: Limited to 50 participants

Fee: $42/staff or a group rate of $309 and $360/50. No refunds.

Schedule: Tuesday classes offered at 3 or 6 PM with appointment

Certification: 3 years

Pre-Class Checklist

  1. Make sure your spot is paid for to secure your registration. This course is first to complete registration to include payment then first to be in class. Do not just show thinking there will be room in class. Up to 50 allowed per class.
  2. Make sure that everyone has printed Directions_Home_Theater and have them so they do not get lost… doors lock when class starts. Try to get there 15 minutes early to register. I also have classes available near Tappahannock, VA. Please ask for dates if interested.
  3. You may bring food and drink as long as food is not crunchy and noisy and drink does not spill.
  4. Bring a pencil to take notes.
  5. Make sure Jill Durand at 12232 Valleybrook Dr. Henrico, VA 23233 has list of names of all students taking this course spelled correctly for their certificates as well as signed Letter of Agreement. You may also email: jill@medicertllc.org
  6. Print out and review attachments and bring to class to discuss.
